George Lucas Names Two Executives To Top Positions At LucasArts Entertainment Company

George Lucas, chairman of the board of LucasArts Entertainment Company LLC, today appointed Simon Jeffery as president of LucasArts. In addition, Lucas named Mary Bihr to the newly established position of vice president of worldwide sales and marketing for the company.

Jeffery previously directed the product development and international business activities for LucasArts, managing the distribution of the company's titles in more than 30 foreign territories. Jeffery was hired by LucasArts in 1998 to expand the company's international operations and to reshape its product development structure.

Bihr, former director of North American sales and marketing, will unify the company's global sales and marketing objectives, and build upon LucasArts' considerable reputation in the interactive entertainment industry.

"These appointments reflect a focusing of LucasArts' overall business functions," says George Lucas. "Former President Jack Sorensen shaped the company's strategic direction and I credit him with building LucasArts into one of the world's leading developers and publishers of interactive entertainment software. Jack has set the stage for Simon and Mary to assume their new responsibilities and is now departing LucasArts to pursue other interests."

Jeffery, who has thirteen years tenure in the interactive entertainment industry, previously served as vice president of marketing at Virgin Interactive in London, England, and Irvine, Calif. He also held a variety of sales and marketing roles at Electronic Arts in London.

Bihr, who has more than twenty years experience in software marketing, helped establish the LucasArts brand domestically and in various foreign territories over the past decade. She also directed the marketing efforts of the company's first Star Wars® interactive entertainment titles.

In addition to the appointments of Jeffery and Bihr, this past June Lucas named Micheline Chau, executive vice president of Lucasfilm Ltd., as lead director of LucasArts' board of directors. The three will focus on expansion strategies designed to position LucasArts as a global market leader in the 21st century.
